The votes for the Kent Countryside Award have now opened and will close on the 11h of January. This award focuses on giving Kentish businesses the credit that they deserve and tries to promote small local businesses which produce high quality Kentish products such as wine, cheese and fish. The aim of this award is to draw attention to local companies to the public, previous winners have found that the award has benefitted their company after winning due to increased interest in the products that they sell. The award is about recognising all the hard work that goes into caring for Kent’s countryside and its environment by those that are working the land or are a rural business. The categories in the competition cover lots of different aspects of the countryside such as the award for the best Kent Dining Pub of the Year and the award for the Kent Fishmonger of the Year.
If you would like to enter or nominate someone else then you will need to complete an entry form, the entry needs to show what you do to care for the countryside where your business is situated and how you look after the environment too. The business must be either using Kent produce, or growing, producing or farming in the county. The types of business that can enter include all farmers, rural B & Bs using Kent produce, horticulture and food & drink producers, but this list is not exhaustive so if you’re not sure if your business is eligible, please ask.
