National Fruit Show

The Marden Fruit Show Society (MFSS) is a Registered Charity run by a voluntary committee who represent many different facets of the fruit industry. The aim of the Society is to promote the better growing, grading and marketing of fruit. The Society organises the National Fruit Show, which acts as a meeting place for the industry. The centrepiece of the show, held each October, is the largest competitive display of commercially grown top and soft fruit staged in the UK.

Weald of Kent Ploughing Match

The annual Weald of Kent Ploughing Match is organised by the Weald of Kent Ploughing Match Association. It is a vibrant and growing event that is well supported by the local agricultural and allied trades, with more than 80 trade stands forming the heart of the modern show. It also has a true "Thelwellian" gymkhana, a clay pigeon competition, farmers' market and a variety of events in the main ring which all attract huge crowds.

North Downs Way Pilgrims Festival

A week-long festival of events will be held in Wye to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the launch of the North Downs Way.  This festival brings together business and community in a series of free and family events to celebrate this major milestone and all things relating to the trails pilgrim heritage. Events will include film, music, literature and a medieval feast.  Local eateries will have Pilgrim's Menus, and there will be plenty of guided walks including a Mindfulness Walk.

Bat Walk

A nocturnal quest to see bats and their amazing aerial acrobatics and other night time animals.  After a short introduction about these fascinating creatures, you'll be guided on a night walk around Bore Place farm, along farm footpaths, using bat detectors to listen out for bats as they leave their roosts and fly out to catch insects.  We also hope to spot some other wildlife - possibly deer or hares - and we might even hear owls!

Festival of Wine

The Wine Garden of England is to host a Festival of Wine in the crypt at Rochester Cathedral.  The venue was chosen to mark the place where, over 1,000 years ago, a monk became the county's first wine producer.  The ticketed event will see three two-hour sessions, with guests receiving their own branded wine glass and sampling 30 wines.  Tickets go on sale in September.
